My guess would agree with the seller's description that it is a booth monitor amplifier. It may have been supplied to Motiograph or Simplex. The input is likely a step up transformer feeding the 2A5 pentode output tube grid. The other iron would be a choke and power transformer.

The black and white decals were used from about 1941 until about 1945 when the red, white and blue decals replaced them. Some say simply "Lansing" at the top, while others say "A Lansing Product." Altec made the most of the Lansing name in the early days due to Jim Lansing's prominent standing in the industry. Their tag line on the factory sign, catalog pages and hang tags was "Loudspeakers by Lansing." When Jim left Altec in 1946 the hang tags were changed to read "Loudspeakers by Altec."

Looks like a field supply to me. Kind of beat but bet is it will probably bring some cash despite the rough condition and bad description

The 2A5 is about 3 watts out, so it is an amp.
    2A5, Tube 2A5; R?hre 2A5 (2A5)

Lansing made radio upgrade speakers, I am wondering if it's an upgrade amp for a radio...seems like 3 watts for a theater isn't much, even for early 40's.

    Re: from the online museum

If it is a single stage amp it would take 15vrms to drive it to get about 3 watts. Simplex made a single ended 6l6 monitor amp so not out of the question but..Looking at the two smaller magnetic devices they are coupled for sure, If one or both are audio transformers that would be bad. If both are chokes it wouldn?t be the end of the world. My bet is still that it is a field supply with the 2A5 configured as a self biased series pass element. That would make it 80 rectifier into L-C-L filter into series pass regulator which would get you a pretty clean 100 or so volts DC
